The University neighborhood is located in the central part of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is southeast of the downtown district. The Minneapolis Campus of the University of Minnesota occupies most of the neighborhood, which is split in two by the Mississippi River. The community takes its name from the university. The school is surrounded by various residential and commercial developments where employees and students can live and study. University buildings are bustling with students during the school year, as are various restaurants, breweries, sports facilities, and outdoor parks frequented by students and teachers alike.
